Atl film submissions faqs

  • How do I submit my film?

All submissions go through FilmFreeway. Each festival page on this site has a direct link.

Can I submit to more than one festival?

Yes. Each festival has its own style and programming team, so feel free to submit where your film fits best.

    Do you watch every submission?

Yes. Every film is screened and scored by our team.

Can I submit a rough cut?

Yes, as long as it’s close enough to judge. Final versions must be delivered before the screening deadline at the same run time as the submission.

    Do you offer fee waivers?

We only offer waivers to festival alumni. This keeps the process fair for all filmmakers.

    Do you accept vertical films?

Yes, depending on the festival and the fit. Some programs screen vertical films, especially experimental and micro shorts.

  • FILES & SCREENING MATERIALS

What formats do you accept for screening?

We accept high quality MP4 and MOV files.

    Do films need subtitles?

Only if any part of your film has dialogue that may be hard to hear. Foreign language films must be subtitled in English.

    Do you need a DCP?

No. We screen from digital files. If a venue requires DCP, we will notify selected filmmakers.

Can I update my file after submitting?

Yes. Just email us with your FilmFreeway tracking number.

  • Can filmmakers attend?

Yes. Filmmakers are encouraged to attend. All events have mixers, Q&As, networking moments and award ceremonies.

Do you offer filmmaker badges or passes?

Selected films receive two filmmaker All Access Passes so they can enjoy the entire festival. Additional passes may be purchased at half-price.

Will my film screen in a theater?

Yes. All festivals are live and in person.

    How long are the screenings?

Each festival has its own schedule, all listed on the individual festival pages. A single program is around 90 minutes, followed by a Q&A with attending filmmakers.

  • Where are the festivals held?

Most events take place at Limelight Theater in Atlanta, Georgia. Any updates will appear on each festival’s page.

Can I buy a season pass?

Yes. Season passes are available and cover all festivals in a full year.

    Are tickets refundable?

Tickets are nonrefundable. If an event changes, we update every attendee directly. If you can’t make it, feel free to give your tickets to someone else.

Do you offer student or industry discounts?

Discounts are given to all cast and crew for selected films. Promo codes will be given to attending filmmakers.

  • How are films selected?

Films are reviewed by multiple programmers. We consider story, craft, originality, and fit for the festival.

    When will I hear back?

Notification dates are listed on FilmFreeway. Final Deadlines usually occur at the last day of the month.

    Do you score films?

Yes. We send out your scores (1-10) with your notification.

Can I request to be programmed on a certain day?

We can’t guarantee placement, but you’re welcome to reach out.
